Terms of Service
Chapter 1. General Provisions
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) set forth the conditions, procedures, and other necessary matters regarding the use of the internet-based services (“Services”) provided through this website operated by Dunia (“Dunia”).
Article 2 (Effectiveness and Amendment of the Terms)
These Terms take effect upon being posted on this website.
Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of the Terms)
Dunia may amend these Terms. Any revised Terms will take effect once announced or notified in the same manner as described in Article 2.
Article 4 (Matters Not Specified in the Terms)
Any matters not specified herein shall comply with the Telecommunications Basic Act, the Telecommunications Business Act, the Electronic Commerce Basic Act, the Electronic Signature Act, and other applicable laws and customary practices.
Chapter 2. Membership and Use of Services
Article 1 (Definition of Members)
A “Member” refers to an individual or organization that provides personal information to Dunia, registers as a recurring donor, agrees with Dunia’s mission and public-interest purpose, and is issued an ID and password after completing the membership registration form. Users who contribute non-recurring donations are classified as “Temporary Members.”
Article 2 (Establishment of Membership)
- Membership is established when Dunia accepts the user’s application for registration and the user agrees to these Terms.
- Applicants must provide the personal information requested by Dunia.
- Upon accepting the application, Dunia will notify the applicant of their Member ID and other relevant information.
Article 3 (Scope of Services)
- Services provided to Members include: a. Content services b. Webmail services
- Dunia may add or modify the content of the Services when necessary. In such cases, Members will be notified accordingly.
Article 4 (Use and Restrictions of Services)
- Services are normally available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, unless operational disruptions or unavoidable circumstances occur.
- Dunia may temporarily restrict service availability when conducting scheduled system maintenance or when otherwise necessary, with prior notice to Members.
Article 5 (Service Fees)
- All Services provided to registered Members are free of charge.
- Should any service become paid, Dunia will announce the timing, policy, and pricing in advance.
Chapter 3. Withdrawal, Re-registration, and Service Restrictions
Article 1 (Withdrawal from Services)
Members who wish to withdraw must directly request cancellation by emailing the administrator at contact@thedunia.org. The request must include the Member’s name, ID, phone number, and reason for withdrawal. After verifying the information, Dunia will process the cancellation.
Article 2 (Re-registration)
Members who previously withdrew may request re-registration by emailing contact@thedunia.org with their name, ID, and phone number. Dunia will process re-registration upon verification.
Article 3 (Restrictions on Service Use)
Dunia may, without prior notice, suspend or terminate service use for a Member who engages in any of the following:
a. Acts contrary to public order or moralityb. Criminal activity or acts connected to criminal behaviorc. Use of the Services with the intent to harm the public interestd. Theft or misuse of another person’s ID or passworde. Defamation or causing harm to othersf. Multiple registrations under different IDs by the same userg. Violations of applicable laws or Dunia’s usage policies
Chapter 4. Obligations
Article 1 (Obligations of Dunia)
- Dunia shall continuously and reliably provide Services in accordance with these Terms.
- Except under special circumstances, Dunia shall ensure Members can access the Services.
- Dunia shall review and respond appropriately to Member inquiries and notify Members when additional time is needed to process them.
- Dunia conducts investigative journalism.
- Dunia reports on current affairs in Asia through on-the-ground reporting to uphold the public’s right to know.
- Dunia monitors unequal power structures to promote a more equitable society.
- Dunia is funded by voluntary contributions from the public.
Article 2 (Obligations Regarding Member Information Security)
- Members are responsible for managing their own ID and password.
- If a Member’s ID is used fraudulently, the Member must promptly notify Dunia.
- Dunia does not provide personally identifiable information to third parties without prior consent, except in the following cases: a. When necessary to develop new features, information, or services beneficial to Members b. When providing statistical data to relevant partners to improve scalability or accessibility c. When using information internally to tailor services based on Member preferences d. When a partner organization uses the information with Dunia’s prior approval
Article 3 (Disclaimer)
- Dunia is not responsible for service interruptions caused by force majeure.
- Dunia is not liable for disruptions resulting from a Member’s own actions.
- Dunia is not responsible for problems arising from incorrect or incomplete information provided by Members.
- Dunia is not liable for expected benefits not obtained from the Services or for losses incurred from Members’ selection or use of service materials.
Chapter 5. Dispute Resolution
- Any dispute arising from matters not specified in these Terms shall be resolved through mutual agreement between the parties whenever possible.
- If litigation arises from service use, the competent court shall be the court having jurisdiction over Dunia’s principal office location.
